International Labour Day Poster Competition Held | GIU


Green International University marked International Labour Day with a vibrant series of activities organized by the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), in collaboration with the Debating and Literary Society and the Fine Arts Society. The celebrations brought together students and faculty in a dynamic showcase of talent, creativity, and thought-provoking discourse on labour rights.

The day began with a speech competition organized by the Debating and Literary Society, chaired by Mr. Syed Urooj Zafar (Chairperson, Department of Film & TV – IAC), alongside Dr. Moeen Ahmad (Dean, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences – GIU) and Ms. Taha Sahar. Students delivered compelling speeches on pressing issues faced by the Pakistani labour community.

Parallel to this, the Fine Arts Society, in collaboration with OSA, hosted a poster competition chaired by Dr. Asim Manzoor (Chairperson, Department of Mass Communication – IAC) and Dr. Nida Amin (Chairperson, Department of Optometry – GIU). Budding artists presented visually striking works merging artistic creativity with social themes, highlighting the importance of labour rights and contributions.

           

   

   

   

Rector GIU Prof. Dr. Syed Amir Gilani, chief guest of the event, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the judges for their dedication. Special guest of honour Muhammad Afzal commended the students for their thoughtful participation and presented shields and prizes to the winners.

  • 3rd: Muneer Ahmad (Department of Law)

Poster Competition Winners:

  • 1st: Atiqa Shahid (Department of Physiotherapy)

  • 2nd: Ramsha Zafar (Department of Pharmacy)

  • 3rd: Musfira Azeem (Department of Pharmacy)

Souvenirs were presented to the esteemed external judges as a token of appreciation for their time and encouragement.

The celebrations stood as a testament to GIU’s commitment to fostering an inclusive, socially aware academic community, where art meets advocacy and students’ voices shape meaningful dialogue.
