Youth Addiction Trends Seminar for Awareness | GIU

“It’s not a war on ‘Drugs’, it’s a war on ‘Personal Freedom’ – Bill Hicks.”

The Anti-Drug & Tobacco Committee of Green International University, in collaboration with the Drug Advisory Training Hub (DATH), organized a seminar on “New Trends of Addiction Among Youth” on March 7, 2024. The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences provided valuable support in making the event informative and impactful.

Guest speaker Syed Zulfiqar Hussain, Director of the Anti-Drug and Narcotics Campaign & Consultant, emphasized the importance of awareness sessions among youth to protect them from the devastating effects of drug addiction. He highlighted that drug abuse is increasingly affecting all segments of society—elite, middle, and lower-middle classes alike.

The seminar was also honored by the presence of Dr. Moeen Ch, Dean Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences GIU, and Mr. Syed Mohsin & Mr. Adeel Rashid from DATH, who served as guests of honor.

Prof. Dr. Syed Amir Gilani, Rector GIU, joined the seminar as the Chief Guest, assuring that GIU is fully compliant with the HEC Policy on Drug & Tobacco Abuse in HEIs and reaffirming that GIU maintains a drug-free campus. He also highlighted that GIU has signed an MOU with DATH to conduct regular training and awareness sessions for students to prevent drug use and addiction.

The seminar concluded with Prof. Dr. Syed Amir Gilani presenting souvenirs to the guest speakers—Syed Zulfiqar Hussain, Mr. Adeel Rashid, and Mr. Syed Mohsin—as a token of appreciation for conducting such an informative and impactful session for GIU students.
